How do I order a skip?

Simply choose the skip size you require using our size guide or call us on 01371 820466 and speak to one of our friendly operators; you can also enter your details on our fast online request form and we will call you right back.

What size do I need?

We offer a range of skip sizes from 4 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards.

So they can be safely transported, all skips must be level loaded and larger skips (over 8 yards) must not contain heavy materials. If you need advice please call our sales team on 01371 820466 who will be more than happy to help.

How much notice do I need to give?

We can often offer a same day service although 24 hours should be allowed. However, if a permit is required we would need advance warning as this process can take up to 5 days.

What if I want a skip on the road?

It is a legal requirement for us to obtain permission from the local council before placing any skip on the public highway, verge or pavement. We arrange all of this on your behalf and depending on which local authority area you live we can usually arrange the necessary permit within a couple of days.

The permit will be valid for a period of 28 days.
There is an additional cost for this permit – please contact us with your postcode.

Where can I place my skip?

Your skip can be placed on your drive, garden, building site or on any piece of private land providing you have the owner’s permission.

How is my skip delivered?

Usually your skip will be delivered by HGV lorry which are normally very large, although we have smaller lorries for tighter locations. Your drive needs to be 2.4 metres wide for our normal lorry. Please advise us of any access difficulties when you call us.

Please make sure that there is sufficient access to allow your skip in and out safely. If you are unsure, please contact us and we can provide you with the dimensions required.

What can I put in my skip?

Skips are for general waste, inert waste, wood, metal and builders waste.

Please advise us if you have the following wastes, these wastes cannot be placed in general waste skips. Fridges, TV's or monitors, hazardous waste which includes paints, solvents, liquids or asbestos. We can help with disposal of these wastes, please ask for more details.

Due to lorry weight restrictions, heavy waste can not be placed in the Maxi skips (12 & 14 yards ).

If you're unsure that your waste is suitable, give us a call. We also offer a range of hazardous / specialist waste disposal services, including asbestos.

How long can I keep my skip?

The normal skip hire is for 7 days but this can be extended to suit your needs. If you require a permit for skip placement these can be arranged for a maximum of 28 days.

What if I’m not finished by pick-up day?

If you have not finished with the skip on the agreed pick-up day, just call us as early as possible. We have hundreds of skips available so usually we can be flexible and allow a couple of extra days.

However if your skip requires a permit and a new permit has to be arranged, the skip may have to be removed while this is organised

I have a new drive, will it be safe to take your lorries?

Block paved and soft tarmac drives can be damaged when placing skips on them. Heavy skips, which require stabilising equipment may also potentially cause damage. We use large blocks to spread the weight and in most cases skips can be lifted without any damage. Most damage is caused to poor quality drives.

When and how do I pay for my skip?

We ask that all skip orders are paid for at the time of ordering, this saves our drivers time when delivering skips. Our friendly sales staff will take your payment details over the phone. We accept payment by all major credit cards.

What happens to my skip when I have finished?

Dunmow Waste Management recycle up to 100% of the waste from your skip. Our average recycling rate is currently 84%.

We are constantly working on recycling more materials through our transfer station.
